Diana has been teaching one-to-one Singing, Piano and Theory lessons for many years. She specialised in vocal studies at university, plays the piano to a Grade 8 standard and with a Distinction for her Grade 5 theory, Diana has a strong theoretical knowledge. Diana teaches a wide range of ages, abilities and genres and prides herself on being fun and friendly whilst encouraging her students to achieve their highest possible standard. Diana enjoys learning new approaches to pass on to her students and undertook a Teaching Composition Workshop led by Mary Bruce and the ABRSM’s instrumental and voice teaching workshop. She thoroughly enjoys teaching as it enables her to encourage the next generation of musicians by passing on the musical knowledge that she has absorbed over the years.
In June 2015, Diana joined the teaching staff at The Music Works, Milford. She undertook the Yamaha teacher training and began teaching Play for Keeps group keyboard lessons, alongside one-to-one lessons.
Diana also has experience of working with SEN students. She works as a Learning Support Assistant at Hollywater School, Bordon. She is also working towards diplomas in Autism, ADHD and Dyslexia.
As a teacher, there are continuous highlights as each student progresses. Specific highlights include: coaching an adult student with anxiety through to passing her grade 3 piano; performing with students on a 60 foot stage with Neil Cowley; and supporting a SEN student to perform live at a music festival.
During her lessons, Diana covers technique, musicianship skills, performance skills and music theory. Her current lesson charges are:
- 30 minute lesson: £15
- 45 minute lesson: £21
- 60 minute lesson: £27
at University, Diana undertook conducting training with Alan Thurlow and Fraser
Tannock. More recently, she has been specialising in her choral conducting and
attended a Choral Conducting Workshop led by Amy Bebbington.
In June 2018, Diana attended a training day for Sing To Beat Parkinsons. This is organised by the Canterbury Trust who are working to expand the therapeutic side of singing. Diana is hoping to start up a singing group for people with Parkinsons in the near future.
From September 2018, Diana will be taking up the position of Musical Director for the Vivaldi Singers. She is already planning an exciting programme of events for their 2018/2019 season.
